Cambodia is a beautiful country with truly admirable people! It is a land of contrasts: from ancient high culture to rural simplicity, from rainy to dry seasons, with a few wealthy but many poor, freedom without limits for tourists yet dependency for Cambodians, remarkable kindness alongside oppression. Cambodia holds great potential – but in many areas, it still faces profound challenges.
Official statistics show that around 18% of Cambodians live below the poverty line. Yet it is believed that nearly half of all children and youth aged 0–17 are affected by multidimensional poverty. sind.
Furthermore, much of Cambodia’s population carries heavy debt, often driving them to seek money quickly.
Access to decent work and adequate healthcare remains limited for many. It is not uncommon for children to help their parents earn a living. und einer genügenden Gesundheitsversorgung.

The struggles of many Cambodians are manipulated by fraudsters using false promises to ensnare victims. um sie mit falschen Versprechungen Family members, including children, are sometimes handed over to strangers.
Exploiters often create debts or other obligations to keep victims bound to their work. Weak family structures, limited parental protection, and domestic abuse further increase the risk that children and adolescents fall prey to human trafficking and exploitation.
Efforts to provide protection and raise awareness are limited, while widespread corruption allows money and connections to dictate what is possible. statt. Korruption ist verbreitet, sodass mit Geld und Beziehungen alles möglich ist.
Cambodia faces one of the greatest educational challenges in Southeast Asia..
Some 21% of adults cannot read or write, disproportionately affecting poorer populations.
Only 8–10% of 15-year-olds have the minimum literacy and numeracy skills, and fewer than half make it to the 9th grade.
Many children in disadvantaged regions lack essential school materials, making meaningful participation in class nearly impossible.
Access to quality education remains mostly accessible to wealthier families.
These challenges in Cambodia contribute to different forms of exploitation and human trafficking.
Children and adults alike are affected, facing forced labor, child labor, sexual exploitation, debt bondage, and forced marriages.

We focus especially on communities that are affected by, or at high risk of, human trafficking and modern slavery. Our development work on the ground is tailored to the specific needs of the people we serve.
Education is the best form of prevention!
That’s why we work closely with local schools and teachers to improve educational opportunities.
Students, teachers, and community members receive regular training and support from our team.
Children who cannot afford school supplies are provided with school kits, ensuring they can attend class and continue their education.
Every family is unique, and so are the challenges they face.
Our team regularly visits families who are particularly vulnerable.
Whether the issue is domestic violence, poverty, lack of focus on education, victims of human trafficking and exploitation, or other challenges, we work together with families to address their needs and improve their situation.
Some communities face major challenges, including poor access to clean water, lack of opportunities, insufficient protection, corruption, and more.
These issues create fertile ground for exploitation and human trafficking.
We collaborate with village leaders to find solutions and support community development, helping to create safer, more resilient environments.
We are not alone in our work. We believe that God guides and supports us in our mission. In the Bible, Jesus says that all who are weary and burdened will find hope in Him (Matthew 11:28). Beyond providing practical support to the people in these villages, we also seek to share this message of hope. We do so sensitively and always only with those who are open to it.
