Recently, we met Tida (name changed) . She is 7 years old and lives with her father and siblings in very modest conditions. Sadly, her mother has passed away.
When we first saw Tida, we noticed she wasn’t even wearing shoes. She also told us about her 9-year-old brother. We wondered why we had never seen him at school. Tida explained that her family couldn’t afford school supplies. She was able to attend school only because someone had given her a second-hand school uniform – but the uniform was too small for her brother, so he couldn’t go to school.
During a visit to the family, we confirmed her story: there was no money for school uniforms, books, or the long journey to school. In Tida’s family, there was only one very small bicycle, which only she could use to get to school.
Thanks to your support, we were able to provide the family with school supplies and a bicycle – now both children can attend school regularly together!
Education protects children and is a powerful key in the fight against human trafficking and modern slavery..
Thank you for helping us protect children!
With hope,
Your SEREY Team
